Junior Structural Engineer – Chicago, IL

A growing structural engineering firm in Chicago is seeking a Junior Structural Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join their dynamic office team. This is a full-time, in-office role (Monday–Friday). The firm works on a wide range of low-rise commercial, residential, institutional, and healthcare projects and offers a discretionary performance-based bonus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Architectural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • 2+ years of experience in structural design and detailing for low-rise commercial, residential, institutional, or healthcare facilities.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit Structure is a plus.

  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as RAM, TEDDS, RISA, ADAPT, etc.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • PE or EIT license is a plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural engineering design across materials including concrete, steel, masonry, and wood.

  • Design slabs, floors, columns, walls, foundations, and other structural elements.

  • Conduct lateral analysis and design for building stability.

  • Collaborate with CAD and BIM teams to produce accurate construction documents.

  • Coordinate drawings and specifications with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines.

  • Review and respond to RFIs and shop drawings.

  • Perform site observations and inspections as required.

  • Attend project meetings and contribute to project planning and execution.
