PLC Technician – Food & Beverage Production

Location: Marlboro, NY | Hands-On Production Role | Shift Work Required

About the Role:
We are seeking a hands-on PLC Technician to support our production lines in a fast-paced food & beverage environment. This role focuses on practical PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system optimization on the factory floor. If you have experience with bottling or production machinery and enjoy solving real-time equipment challenges, this position is a great fit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PLC Programming & Maintenance:

    • Develop, test, and fine-tune PLC programs for equipment such as filling lines, labeling machines, and conveyors.

    • Ensure machines operate efficiently and minimize downtime.

  • System Integration:

    • Connect PLC systems with HMI/SCADA and Ethernet networks for live process monitoring and control.

    • Facilitate machine-to-machine communication using protocols like Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus.

  • Troubleshooting & Repairs:

    • Diagnose and resolve hardware or software issues in PLC-controlled systems.

    • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.

  • Equipment Commissioning & Upgrades:

    • Assist in setting up and commissioning new machinery.

    • Implement system upgrades to improve production efficiency and meet changing demands.

  • Documentation & Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate records of PLC programs, modifications, and maintenance actions.

    • Ensure programming and operations comply with FDA, OSHA, and industry safety standards.

  • Collaboration & Training:

    • Work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to achieve operational goals.

    • Train team members in basic PLC operation and troubleshooting techniques.

    • Install conduits, raceways, and wiring as part of system setup and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • Electrical Engineering or Automation Technical Certification preferred.

    • 2–5 years of hands-on PLC programming experience, ideally in the food or beverage industry.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent.

    • Experience with process control systems, including CIP (Clean-In-Place) and SIP (Sterilization-In-Place).

    • Familiarity with robotics, vision systems, or motion control is a plus.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

    • Effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

    • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
