Job Title: Instrumentation & Electrical Technician

Location: Midland, Texas

Position Type: Permanent

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Electrical Technician with expertise in fired equipment to enhance plant operations and reliability. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing fired heaters, thermal oxidizers, combustors, and flares, while working closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Collaboration:
- Build effective partnerships with Maintenance, I&E, Measurement, Engineering/Construction, EH&S, and Process Safety teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Drive safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operations.

Technical & Operational Support:
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and coordinate vendor support for fired equipment, including heaters, flares, oxidizers, and combustors.
- Potential expansion of responsibilities to turboexpanders and refrigeration compression systems.
- Utilize experience with burner management systems (BMS) and process control platforms like Honeywell SLATE, Allen-Bradley GuardLogix, or Siemens SIMATIC.
- Monitor equipment health, identify failure patterns, and implement corrective measures.
- Support emission control goals by developing plans to minimize downtime and prevent excess emissions.
- Recommend enhancements to preventive maintenance programs based on vendor guidance and industry standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Automation teams to address control system deficiencies and improve reliability.
- Offer expertise during hazard studies (HAZOP, PHA) and incident investigations (RCA).
- Assist with planning and execution of outages, turnarounds, and major maintenance events.
- Be available for call-outs to address urgent reliability issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, electrical, or fired equipment maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of gas processing operations and fired equipment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting wiring, calibration, power systems (120 VAC, 24 VDC), and instrumentation interfaces.
- Familiar with PLC-based control systems and automation interfaces.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
