Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Substation Engineer to join our team in Houston. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, specifically with experience in designing, operating, and maintaining electrical substations. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and oversee the construction and maintenance of electrical substations and related systems.
- Develop technical specifications and standards for substation equipment and systems.
- Perform detailed engineering analysis and calculations related to substation design.
- Conduct field inspections and evaluate the condition of existing substation infrastructure.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure project specifications are met.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, schematics, and reports.
- Coordinate with utility companies, contractors, and vendors to ensure project completion.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues within substations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and staff.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Texas is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and engineering.
- Proficient in using engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and PLS-CADD.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, protection, and control.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
