Electrical Engineer (P.E.) – Houston-Based
A growing engineering consultancy is looking for a licensed Electrical Engineer to support its project work in the power and industrial sectors. This role is based in Houston, TX, and candidates must reside in the greater Houston area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in electrical design and analysis, along with strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset.
This position offers the opportunity to work on technically complex projects from concept through construction, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
What You’ll Do:
Design and develop electrical systems, including power distribution, grounding, lighting, and controls.
Create technical documents such as calculations, one-lines, panel schedules, and wiring diagrams.
Review and finalize technical specifications for electrical equipment and systems.
Perform field assessments and site visits to document existing conditions and support project execution.
Conduct engineering studies such as:
Load flow and short circuit analysis
Arc flash hazard assessments
Protective device coordination
Support commissioning efforts and respond to technical issues during installation or startup.
Guide junior team members and provide input during design reviews.
Ensure all deliverables meet applicable codes (NFPA, IEEE, NEC, etc.) and project quality standards.
Participate in internal QA/QC procedures and peer reviews.
Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to clarify requirements and resolve technical challenges.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas.
At least 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in consulting, industrial, or utility environments.
Familiarity with software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower for system modeling.
Solid understanding of applicable codes, electrical safety, and engineering best practices.
Ability to develop electrical room layouts, cable schedules, and system one-lines.
Comfortable working both independently and in a team-oriented setting.
Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to travel occasionally to local or regional job sites.
