Position: Automation Field Technician – Regional Travel Role

Location: Must reside within a two-hour radius of Minneapolis, MN
Travel: Up to 50%, including occasional short-notice assignments

We’re hiring a hands-on, technically capable Automation Field Technician to support a growing industrial controls and automation team. This role combines travel-based customer site support with shop-based responsibilities during downtime. Candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of the company's facility for non-travel periods.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform on-site commissioning, maintenance, and repair of industrial automation systems

• Diagnose and correct malfunctions in PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and related components

• Conduct preventive maintenance and system performance tests

• Interpret control schematics, wiring layouts, and equipment documentation

• Communicate directly with clients on-site to understand challenges and ensure high satisfaction

• Maintain thorough documentation on service activities, components used, and outcomes

• Support system integration tasks in collaboration with engineering staff

• Maintain a strong safety mindset in all field and facility environments

What We’re Looking For:

• Solid experience working with industrial control systems (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, VFDs)

• Proven troubleshooting skills in field environments

• Ability to read and apply technical documents like schematics and wiring diagrams

• Excellent communication and customer service abilities

• Willingness to travel regularly and work independently in varying conditions

• Must be based within a two-hour commute of the Minneapolis region
