Information Technology Project Manager Location: Remote (with occasional travel to Pierre, South Dakota) Duration: 12 months starting June 1, 2026 (extendable based on performance and need)
Job Summary
The IT Project Manager will lead and manage enterprise-level and division-specific technology initiatives for the Division of Child Support. This role focuses on system modernization, strategic planning, and successful delivery of IT projects by collaborating with stakeholders, development teams, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design, development, and implementation of information system transformation projects
Provide strategic direction for IT initiatives within the Division of Child Support
Define and align business and technical requirements with stakeholders, product owners, and scrum teams
Manage large-scale enterprise IT projects as well as smaller initiatives
Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, vendors, and business stakeholders
Ensure project governance frameworks and monitoring controls are in place
Deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget
Mentor and guide state personnel in project management practices
Support knowledge transfer and capability building for internal team
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of child support program policies, procedures, and operations
Proven experience in child support system modernization projects
Demonstrated success managing complex IT projects
PMP certification or equivalent project management experience
Expertise in project governance, risk management, and delivery frameworks
Experience working with multiple software development methodologies:
Agile
Waterfall
DevOps
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
