Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager

We are seeking a distinguished Senior Mechanical Engineering to design innovative 3-D high-performance batteries. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in mechanical design, hands-on engineering, and team management. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering, materials
science, stress analysis, and manufacturing processes, combined with a strong network within the industry. Your ability to design complex systems, solve intricate engineering
challenges, and lead a team to success will make you an invaluable asset to our organization. 

Key Responsibilities: 
Mechanical Design Simulation: 
Design and deliver mechanical systems to drive performance improvements in clients novel 3-D batteries. 
Design and optimize  mechanical components and assemblies, ensuring they meet stringent criteria for reliability, manufacturability, and cost. 
Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) to create detailed models and drawings that support the development of complex systems and fixtures. 
Lead advanced finite element analysis effort using industry-standard tools like COMSOL, ABACUS, etc. to accurately predict stress, strain, fatigue, and prevent fracture in critical components. 

Leadership Team Management: 
Lead teams and manage stakeholders to deliver working designs on next generation products. 
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of highly skilled mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and task execution, ensuring that high-quality deliverables are consistently achieved. 
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, and quality assurance, to meet and exceed project objectives. 
Drive strategic initiatives within the mechanical engineering team, aligning with the company’s long-term goals and vision. 

Material Process Expertise: 
Analyse and select materials based on application requirements, with a deep understanding of stress, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and environmental factors. 
Leverage extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and additive manufacturing, to ensure design feasibility and cost-efficiency. 
Stay at the forefront of advancements in materials science and manufacturing Hands-On Engineering: 
Engage directly in hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting to validate designs and address real-world engineering challenges. 
Lead the design and implementation of fixtures, jigs, and other tools essential for manufacturing and testing processes, ensuring precision and efficiency. 
Conduct comprehensive design of experiments (DOE) to optimize product performance and validate design hypotheses, driving innovation and excellence. 

Industry Connections Collaboration: 
Cultivate strong relationships with machine shops, suppliers, and vendors. 
Lead collaboration with external partners to source high-quality materials, components, and services. 

Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus. 
20+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant focus on mechanical design, and team leadership.  
In-depth expertise in material science, stress analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and manufacturing processes. 
Strong hands-on experience in prototyping, fixture design, and testing, with a practical approach to solving engineering challenges. 
A well-established network within the manufacturing and machine shop industry, with the ability to leverage these relationships to achieve project goals. 
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership. 
Extensive experience with FEA tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, or equivalent, with a proven track record of delivering complex simulations and analyses.  
Mastery of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) with a history of designing and optimizing complex mechanical systems. 
Exceptional project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
