Job Duties Summary: We are seeking a motivated and self-starting data specialist to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of our database systems. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity, security, and availability of our data, while also optimizing database performance and supporting the needs of our organization. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties:
Support design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems to meet the needs of the organization
Ensure the integrity, security, and availability of data through regular monitoring and maintenance
Optimize database performance by analyzing and resolving performance issues
Develop and implement database policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy and security
Assist in database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
Collaborate with IT and other departments to support data-related projects and initiatives
Provide technical support and training to database users
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in database management
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements
Develop and maintain documentation related to database systems and processes
Develop and deliver quality reports to customers
Assist in activities relating to Technical Configuration Management including:
o Part number creation and definition
o Sub-Assembly BOM management and version control
o Related data entry into the clients ERP system (SAP and RATS)
Participate in peer review of customer deliverables
Perform other logistics tasks as assigned my superiors
Be versatile and willing to learn new things and take on new responsibilities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience in and knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) - SQL Server and MS Access preferred
Proficiency in database design, implementation, and maintenance.
Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Understanding of data security and privacy practices.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in relational database preferred (Microsoft Access, SQL)
Good problem-solving skills to gather and analyze information
Basic project management skills to manage multiple competing tasks
Good presentation skills
High organizational skills
Aptitude for solving business and technology problems
Ability to work independently and communicate progress/problems to appropriate personnel effectively
Ability to interact and communicate effectively in a variety of roles with a wide variety of technical and non-technical management and staff as well as customer management and staff
