Job Description

Our client is seeking a full-time Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide clinical leadership and oversight for senior living communities in the Rochester, NY market. This senior physician leadership role is responsible for shaping how medical care is delivered at scale, supporting providers, and serving as the primary medical authority for the region.

This role is ideal for a physician who wants to lead a practice while playing a key role in the continued growth of a mission-driven healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary medical leader for assisted living communities in the Rochester region, providing oversight and guidance to physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff
• Provide direct medical care as needed
• Establish and uphold clinical standards, protocols, and best practices for senior living care
• Participate in interviews and provide input on hiring decisions for new physicians and clinical providers
• Oversee medical operations across a dozen-plus senior living facilities, including supporting the integration of newly acquired communities
• Partner with executive leadership to align clinical care with organizational goals
• Lead, mentor, and support clinical providers, serving as a resource for complex medical decision-making
• Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based care while ensuring regulatory compliance
• Maintain current knowledge of geriatric and senior care best practices

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted New York medical license with eligibility for Medicare and Medicaid participation
• Minimum 5–8 years of clinical experience, preferably with senior-level or geriatric expertise
• Experience caring for geriatric populations
• Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams
• Formal management experience not required; ability to lead providers and serve as regional medical authority is essential
• Strong clinical judgment, leadership presence, and communication skills
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms, billing systems, coding standards, or care coordination programs preferred
