Job Description

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role responsible for owning technical direction and execution, mentoring a small team of software engineers, and collaborating closely with computational biologists and researchers to translate cutting-edge science into robust, production-grade software tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for the platform, guiding architecture, feature development, and major infrastructure upgrades
• Lead and mentor a team of full stack software engineers across code quality, workflows, and professional development
• Design, develop, and optimize scalable genomics data processing pipelines
• Integrate machine learning methods into production pipelines for heterogeneous biological datasets
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices: coding standards, version control, documentation, testing, and CI/CD
• Collaborate cross-functionally with computational biologists, data scientists, and external partners
• Evaluate emerging technologies in cloud infrastructure, bioinformatics, and scientific computing

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including team leadership and hands-on involvement in planning, design, and development
• Proficiency in full stack development
• Extensive Python experience, including data pipelines and software libraries
• Demonstrated experience across the full SDLC: testing, CI/CD, version control, deployment
• Experience building and maintaining web-based applications
• Background in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field
• Experience working with large, heterogeneous biological datasets, ideally in genomics or biomedical contexts
• Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to work across technical and scientific disciplines
