Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven Configuration Manager to support software development and release management activities within a collaborative Agile environment. This role is responsible for maintaining configuration management processes, supporting release documentation, coordinating change management activities, and ensuring the integrity of configuration management systems and software delivery artifacts.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting software development teams, maintaining configuration management documentation, coordinating release activities, and ensuring compliance with established operational processes and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) inventory deliverables and Configuration Management (CM) content libraries
  • Author, maintain, and improve CM processes, procedures, and documentation in alignment with customer and organizational requirements
  • Perform configuration management audits and generate reports related to status, exceptions, metrics, and compliance activities
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the Configuration Management System (CMS) and related repositories
  • Support Agile Scrum teams by reviewing and maintaining software delivery and release documentation
  • Ensure all software development and maintenance documentation remains current and properly controlled throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for approved software releases and version tracking
  • Coordinate with development, testing, and project teams to ensure processes, definitions, and documentation standards are consistently followed
  • Prepare documentation and supporting materials for Change Control Board (CCB) reviews and release approvals
  • Support release readiness activities and maintain traceability of software releases and configuration items
  • Assist with continuous process improvement initiatives related to configuration and release management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3–10 years of experience in Configuration Management, Release Management, Change Management, or related technical/process support roles
  • Active SECRET/TOP SECRET Clearance required
  • Experience supporting software development or IT delivery environments
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC processes
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation, process artifacts, and release records
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting government, defense, or enterprise IT programs
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs)
  • Experience participating in Change Control Board (CCB) or release governance activities
  • Knowledge of software release/version control processes
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Git, SharePoint, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
