Job Description
Centurion is seeking a Senior Subject Matter Expert – Project Manager (Senior SME-PM) to provide direct support for our client's Technology Optimization Program (TOP). This role will support a large-scale application development and optimization effort by partnering closely with business stakeholders and IT development teams. The Senior SME-PM will serve as a primary liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring business needs are clearly understood, documented, and delivered through effective project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary interface between business users and IT development teams, translating business processes, workflows, and information needs into actionable technical requirements.
- Support existing enterprise applications and the configuration of new functionality on an enterprise-wide platform.
- Lead and support project planning activities, including scope definition, schedules, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
- Facilitate requirements gathering using industry-standard techniques such as use cases, user stories, and process flows.
- Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to refine backlogs, support sprint planning, and resolve requirements-related issues.
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
- Apply risk management and mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Create, maintain, and manage comprehensive project documentation, including requirements, technical specifications, and user documentation.
- Support stakeholder engagement and ensure alignment between business objectives and technical solutions.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior project manager, preferably supporting application development or enterprise systems initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with business stakeholders and technical teams in complex environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Project & Requirements Management
- Proficiency in requirements gathering and documentation techniques (use cases, user stories, process flows).
- Experience with business process analysis and improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear technical requirements.
- Experience with both Agile and traditional (Waterfall) project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and mitigation strategies.
Technical & Tool Proficiency
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience supporting Scrum teams.
- Familiarity with SQL for basic data querying and understanding database concepts.
- Proficiency with requirements and work management tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
- Experience using version control or document management systems (e.g., Git, SharePoint) for documentation management.
- Proficiency with collaboration and communication tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
