Job Description

Virtualization Engineer

Clearance Requirement: Secret

Required Skills:
• Senior-level experience with the VMware suite of products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation).
• Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack – network, storage, server, and applications.

Preferred Skills:
• Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
• Hands-on experience with container platforms and container orchestration.
• Understanding of Kubernetes networking (CNI) and storage (CSI) principles.
• Experience with managing Kubernetes applications using Helm charts and maintaining container images in a registry.
• Experience with GitOps principles and tools (e.g., Argo CD, Flux).

Day-to-day Responsibilities:
• Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the AECC architecture.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the VMware suite of products in the AECC.
• As applications are hosted on the AECC solution, utilize IaC for the provisioning of the customer enclaves.
• Provide daily administration of the VMware products to include patching and upgrading of all VMware components.
• Monitor utilization of all virtualization resources and notify the AECC lead when additional resources will be required.
• Harden the VMware products per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls.
• Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.

Expected Deliverables:
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any hosting platform issues.
• Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
• Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in an IT-related field.
