Centurion is seeking a highly skilled Costpoint Project Expert / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as a manager-level leader with deep expertise in Deltek Costpoint. This role will focus on project setup, backend configuration, and system optimization while providing guidance and tutoring to other team members. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical Costpoint functionality and business/commercial requirements, ensuring seamless integration across projects and departments.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary Costpoint SME for project setup, backend configurations, and ongoing system support.

Lead and mentor accounting, finance, and project management teams in Costpoint best practices, including data structures, reporting, and compliance.

Partner with IT and business stakeholders to ensure Costpoint aligns with organizational goals, financial requirements, and compliance standards.

Provide hands-on support in backend administration including project structure creation, indirect rate setup, resource planning, and reporting.

Translate business needs into Costpoint solutions, ensuring smooth integration with related systems (e.g., billing, contracts, procurement).

Support system upgrades, module implementations, and testing activities, serving as the liaison between technical teams and business users.

Establish and document standardized processes for Costpoint project setup and lifecycle management.

Provide training and knowledge transfer sessions for junior staff and other team members to strengthen in-house Costpoint capabilities.

Monitor and troubleshoot Costpoint system performance and data integrity issues, escalating as needed.

Act as a trusted advisor on the commercial implications of project setup, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and financial objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).

7+ years of experience working with Deltek Costpoint, with a strong background in project setup, backend administration, and reporting.

Demonstrated subject matter expertise (SME) in Costpoint, with the ability to advise on best practices and optimize processes.

Prior experience at the manager or lead level, including mentoring or training team members.

Strong understanding of government contracting requirements, FAR/DFARS compliance, and cost accounting standards.

Knowledge of integrations between Costpoint and other enterprise systems (Time & Expense, HR, Procurement, or external ERP/CRM tools).

Ability to translate business/commercial requirements into effective Costpoint solutions.

Proven experience with data analysis, reporting tools, and system troubleshooting.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, educate, and guide cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Costpoint 8.x and new module implementations.

Exposure to Deltek Time & Expense, Cognos, or BI tools.

Familiarity with project-based industries (e.g., government contracting, professional services, engineering).

Strong project management skills, including ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
