We are hiring for a Network Engineer to work on a multi year program in Annapolis, MD (Hybrid work environment). The Network Engineer will participate in planning and coordinating the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure stable, scalable, redundant, and secure network operations.
SCOPE OF WORK
Designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure.
Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of a statewide network, utilizing industry best practices for security, disaster recovery and business continuity, change control, and client support.
Developing and analyzing network designs and protocols including prototyping and assessment.
Performing planning, engineering, forecasting and implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems.
Leading and/or assisting in major network projects to support capacity growth, upgrades and new products/features, and integration.
Evaluating current network systems and recommending changes in maintenance and systems standards, and training support personnel on the conversion, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Applying in-depth up-to-date knowledge of standards, guidelines, industry trends and similar for LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center, Cloud networking and interconnection.
Driving improvements in network process, efficiency, and standardization.
Ensuring security compliance, change control processes and adherence to standards.
Providing upper tier of diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems.
Identifying and documenting root cause.
Proactively identifying potential issues in the production environment and recommending potential solutions
Developing comprehensive graphical and text-based documentation and effectively managing the implementation process from design to acceptance.
Hosting weekly status meetings/calls with team or on as needed basis.
Leading, scheduling, and overseeing the activities with other team members to resolve end user hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
Assisting in the creation of robust network designs, acting as the escalation point of contact and lead engineer for implementations and provide ongoing support and maintenance.
Oversight of the configuration, maintenance, and documentation of routers, switches, wireless controllers, load balancers, security appliances, WAN optimizers, and management and security appliances.
Reporting as follows:
Weekly report communicating project progress and status,
Weekly time reporting on JIS provided forms, and
Any additional reports as assigned by the supervising manager.
Work shall be performed in a hybrid setting each week, Monday through Friday, as follows:
Two (2) days remote at a suitable off-site location
Three (3) days on site in Annapolis, MD 21401.
Candidate will be required to perform during an initial six (6) month performance period. If performance is satisfactory, the candidate may seek approval to perform in an expanded hybrid role, Monday through Friday, as follows:
Three (3) days remote at a suitable off-site location
Two (2) days on site in Annapolis, MD 21401.
On-site support may be required during the work week, and the candidate must be able to report on-site within four (4) hours after notification
Candidate shall perform work during normal operating hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM Eastern Standard Time (EDT).
Candidate shall have the flexibility to extend coverage hours or schedule to meet deadlines, project requirements, and/or on-call operational support, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
