Position Summary
Capstone IT is helping our client to hire a Workday Benefits Consultant with configuration experience to lead the design, configuration, and optimization of Workday Benefits. This role will be responsible for translating complex insurance products, eligibility requirements, and enrollment rules into scalable Workday configurations that support testing, integrations, partner onboarding, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on Workday Benefits expertise, strong configuration skills, and experience supporting large-scale implementations in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end configuration of Workday Benefits, including benefit plans, eligibility rules, enrollments, carriers, and provider setup.
- Translate business and insurance product requirements into Workday-native configurations.
- Configure and maintain Workday business processes, security roles, approvals, notifications, and eligibility updates.
- Develop and maintain reference tenant models and standardized configuration frameworks.
- Perform data loading activities to support implementations, testing, and enrollment scenarios.
- Create and maintain reporting to support business and operational needs.
- Establish and execute scenario-based testing strategies, test plans, and test scripts.
- Partner with business stakeholders to validate eligibility logic, dependent coverage rules, waiting periods, and enrollment requirements.
- Collaborate with integration teams to ensure benefits configurations align with API and EDI requirements.
- Support partner onboarding and validate tenant readiness for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Assess Workday releases and enhancements for impacts to benefits functionality, business processes, and integrations.
- Resolve complex configuration issues and serve as an escalation point for design and tenant-related challenges.
- Mentor team members through documentation, training, knowledge transfer, and best-practice guidance.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Create and maintain clear documentation, process flows, requirements, testing artifacts, and support materials.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience configuring and supporting Workday Benefits.
- Strong experience with Workday Benefits plan configuration, eligibility rules, enrollments, and carrier connectivity.
- Experience configuring Workday business processes and security roles.
- Knowledge of group insurance products, benefits administration, and eligibility management.
- Experience performing testing, troubleshooting, data validation, and production support activities.
- Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with reporting, data loads, and system configuration governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting integrations, APIs, and EDI processes.
- Experience with Workday tenant strategy, implementation, and optimization initiatives.
- Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Experience mentoring team members and establishing configuration standards.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Operate as a key contributor within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) team.
- Participate in sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and other Agile activities.
- Produce clear, concise, and maintainable documentation.
- Proactively identify risks, issues, and blockers and communicate appropriately.
- Leverage collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Jira, and email to coordinate work and share updates.
- Take ownership of assigned work and ensure deliverables meet acceptance criteria.
