Capstone IT is seeking a Java Engineer to develop, modernize, and support applications and integration services. This role focuses primarily on Java and Spring Boot development, with additional responsibility for MuleSoft integrations, APIs, AWS services, and connections to legacy CAPSIL mainframe systems.
The engineer will work with product owners, business partners, and technical teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Build and support REST APIs, microservices, and MuleSoft integration services.
- Integrate modern applications with AWS services and legacy CAPSIL mainframe systems.
- Develop system, process, and experience APIs to support business workflows.
- Contribute to full-stack development using Java, TypeScript, and related technologies.
- Participate in application modernization and legacy system integration initiatives.
- Create unit tests and automated tests to support application quality.
- Troubleshoot production issues, resolve defects, and support system stability.
- Use GitHub, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines for version control, testing, and deployment.
- Participate in solution design, technical planning, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
- Maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, integrations, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete sprint commitments and support production releases.
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience developing applications with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with MuleSoft development or MuleSoft-based integrations.
- Experience developing or deploying applications in AWS.
- Experience with TypeScript and full-stack application development.
- Knowledge of API-led connectivity, including system and process APIs.
- Experience with unit testing, automated testing, and defect resolution.
- Experience using GitHub and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.
- Understanding of application security, scalability, and production support.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating applications with mainframe or legacy platforms.
- Familiarity with CAPSIL or other insurance administration systems.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools.
- Knowledge of health insurance, life insurance, or annuity products.
- Experience supporting application modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
