Capstone IT is helping our client to find a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to lead and execute automation and controls design for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects in sectors such as food, consumer products, pharmaceutical, aerospace, and industrial facilities. This role oversees full-cycle project responsibilities from design to commissioning, leads multidisciplinary teams, ensures compliance with industry standards, and drives client engagement and satisfaction. This position direct hire FTE and is on-site in Northwest Atlanta (Cumberland/Galleria area), travel up to 30% is expected.

Responsibilities:

• Lead automation and controls design for projects of varying scale.
• Oversee PLC, HMI, SCADA, and MES software development and commissioning.
• Supervise electrical and controls design documentation.
• Coordinate vendor specification, procurement, FATs.
• Interface with clients, construction, procurement, and engineering teams.
• Perform quality reviews, support budgeting, manage technical deliverables.
• Mentor team members, assist in hiring, and support business development.
• Travel up to 30% to project sites.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Master Degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years electrical engineering experince.
• 8+ years of automation/controls and electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in EPC environments/projects.
• Expertise in Rockwell, Siemens PLCs, SCADA (FactoryTalk, Wonderware).
• Strong understanding of NFPA, ISA, IEC, IEEE standards.
• PE License preferred.
• TWIC eligibility required.
• Familiarity with PlantPAX, MES platforms, safety compliance (ISO13849, IEC 61511) a plus.
