Full-Stack Software Engineer (JOB-4588)
Location: Remote; Omaha, NE (occasional travel to Omaha office as needed)
Employment Type: W-2 Contract | 12 Months
Pay Range: $55 – $67/hour (W2)

Capstone IT is partnering with a nationally recognized insurance and financial services provider to hire a Full-Stack Software Engineer for a 12-month contract engagement. In this role, you will be a key contributor to ongoing digital transformation initiatives, including migrating multiple sections of the corporate website and applications into a modern, in-house Content Management System (CMS) as the organization phases out legacy WordPress platforms.
This position requires hands-on development across both the front end (Vue.js, HTML5/CSS3, accessibility) and the back end (Java, Spring Boot, APIs), with responsibilities weighted approximately 60% front end and 40% back end. You’ll collaborate closely with UX designers, marketing stakeholders, and analytics teams to deliver accessible, high-performing, and user-centered solutions. Success in this role will rely on your ability to apply modern engineering practices, including WCAG-compliant accessibility, SEO optimization, API development, performance tuning, and test automation.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using Vue.js, Java/Spring Boot, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Support the transition away from WordPress by migrating features and content into the in-house CMS.
- Develop, integrate, and optimize RESTful APIs to connect front-end applications with back-end services.
- Collaborate with UX designers to transform wireframes into functional, accessible, and responsive experiences.
- Partner with marketing and analytics teams to ensure solutions align with SEO best practices, analytics tracking, and performance goals.
- Modernize and optimize legacy applications using modern frameworks, tools, and engineering practices.
- Ensure solutions meet WCAG accessibility standards while delivering reliability and scalability.
- Implement and maintain test automation frameworks to improve quality assurance across UI and back-end features.
- Participate in peer code reviews and advocate for best practices in software quality, maintainability, and performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency with Vue.js (JavaScript, ES6) and Java/Spring Boot (approx. 60% front end / 40% back end).
- Solid experience with HTML5, CSS3, and WCAG accessibility standards.
- Demonstrated success with CMS migrations or modernization projects (WordPress experience a plus).
- Knowledge of SEO, analytics, performance optimization, and test automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments (AWS/Azure), and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) preferred.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with proven ability to work across UX, marketing, analytics, and engineering teams.
- Ability to deliver high-quality solutions in both front-end and back-end environments.
