Senior Data Engineer (JOB-4583)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)
Employment Type: Direct-Hire | Full-Time
Salary Range: $130k – $135k (Based on Experience)

Capstone IT is partnering with a nationally recognized insurance and financial services provider to hire a Senior Data Engineer for a direct-hire, onsite opportunity in Omaha, NE. This hands-on engineering role is critical to designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, optimizing high-performance ETL processes, and advancing the organization’s cloud-based data strategy.

This is a technical leadership role ideal for experienced engineers who excel in building reliable data infrastructure, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating across development and data teams. You’ll lead key data engineering initiatives by delivering scalable, cost-effective, and maintainable solutions aligned with modern architecture and best practices.

This position is 100% onsite at the company’s Omaha office (Monday–Friday). Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and support ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
• Perform source-to-target data mapping and ensure high data quality.
• Adapt pipelines to meet evolving business and technical requirements.
• Optimize data processes for scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues, including on-call support as assigned.
• Follow change and configuration management best practices for code deployments.
• Collaborate with application developers, analysts, and other data professionals.
• Mentor junior data engineers and serve as a technical lead on data projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field is required.
• Master’s degree or advanced coursework is preferred.
• 6+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in data engineering and database development.
• 3–5 years of experience with SQL programming and performance tuning.
• 3–5 years of scripting experience with Python or Shell.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred).
• Deep knowledge of ETL frameworks, relational/dimensional modeling, and large-scale data architecture.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a team-focused, mentorship-driven mindset.
