Full Stack Software Engineer (React/Java/AWS) - J-4540
Location: REMOTE (Occasional Travel to Omaha, NE)
Employment Type: W-2 Contract To Hire; (6 months to 12 months)

Estimated Conversion Salary: $110,000 – $130,000
Compensation: $55–$67/hr. (Based on experience)
Start Date: No later than 07/07/2025

Capstone IT is partnering with our client, a leader in the insurance and financial services industry, to hire a Full Stack Software Engineer to support a large-scale digital modernization initiative within their Group Insurance division. This is a 6–12 month remote W-2 contract-to-hire opportunity with the opportunity to convert to full-time employment. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying modern, cloud-native applications and integration services within a fast-paced Agile environment.

In this role, you’ll work across the full stack to modernize legacy systems and deliver scalable, high-performance solutions that support seamless integration between internal platforms and external third-party benefit administrators. You’ll contribute to a suite of mission-critical applications using React (JavaScript/TypeScript) for front-end development, Java and Spring Boot for backend microservices, and Apache Kafka for event-driven architecture. Applications are deployed to AWS, leveraging services such as Fargate, MSK, and Lambda. You’ll also operate within a DevOps environment that includes Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and CI/CD pipelines, with exposure to MuleSoft and MongoDB as part of the broader integration ecosystem. This is a high-impact opportunity for a Full Stack Engineer who values clean code, cloud-first development, modern architecture, and contributing to enterprise-wide transformation.

Responsibilities

• Build front-end applications using React
• Develop Spring Boot microservices and integrate with internal/external systems
• Create scalable, secure REST APIs and Kafka-based event-driven services
• Deploy cloud-native applications to AWS using services like MSK, Fargate, and Lambda
• Build and manage containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, architecture discussions, and planning
• Collaborate in team brainstorming and ideation sessions to solve complex challenges
• Ensure code quality, version control, and change management using Git and CI/CD practices
• Integrate with external Third-Party Benefit Administrators
• Contribute to MuleSoft and MongoDB integration initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full stack software development experience
• Advanced skills in React, Java, Spring Boot
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS (esp. MSK, Fargate)
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservice architectures
• Agile experience using tools like JIRA and Confluence
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
• Comfortable with occasional travel to Omaha, NE

Preferred:

• Experience with MuleSoft (Anypoint Platform, API-led integrations)
• Familiarity with MongoDB
• AWS Certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Developer Associate, or Solutions Architect Associate).
