Job Description

We are hiring a Maintenance and Refrigeration Technician for one of the world’s largest food companies
 
As the Maintenance and Refrigeration Technician, you will provide maintenance support to ensure the safe and effective operation of our team and ammonia refrigeration systems, HCFC systems, hot water, compressed air, and steam systems. You will safely apply your knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment.
 
Maintenance and Refrigeration Technician Schedule:  
Rotating shift. Shifts are 5:00am to 5:00pm or 5:00pm – 5:00am. 3 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on, and 2 days off. Some Sunday work is required based on reworks.
 
Maintenance and Refrigeration Technician Responsibilities
  • Performing robust preventative maintenance and refrigeration repairs
  • Performing emergency mechanical or electrical repairs
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, pump, pressure, and hydraulic plant equipment.
  • Work as part of the Emergency Response Team
  • Minimizing downtime due to equipment and system failure.
  • Log information in computer software, to process daily work orders and to complete required documentation
  • Will learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Read and interpret blue prints, schematics, and maintenance instructions/procedure manuals; must be able to work with pumps, hydraulics, and welding.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. 
 
Maintenance and Refrigeration Technician Requirements
  • 1 year of industrial maintenance experience or possess an Industrial Maintenance diploma or are currently enrolled in technical school
  • 3(+) years of industrial ammonia refrigeration experience
  • STAND OUT with a Certification and experience as RETA Operator
  • Basic computer skills will be necessary to
  • Communicate effectively
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and system wiring and installation
  • Basic math skills; percentages, fractions, and measurements
  • Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance including Pneumatics, PLC’s, Motor controls, and shop equipment operation desired
  • Must be able to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills
  • You must have the following understanding boiler theory, RETA Operator I, and IIAR Basic NH3 Refrigeration schematics will be required for this role.
  • Must be able to pass a HAZ-Mat physical and pass the training to be certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level and participate on the Emergency Response Team.
 
Maintenance and Refrigeration Technician Abilities 
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally and stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day
  • Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend and stoop with frequent overhead work
  • Repetitive gripping, pushing and pulling
  • Be able to work in all weather-related conditions, temps inside plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may also be needed
