PEO DIGITAL NETWORK MODERNIZATION – SENIOR NETWOK ADMINISTRATOR
POSITION OVERVIEW
Bloom Consulting, a veteran-owned small business dedicated to empowering the U.S. Navy through digital transformation and mission resiliency, is seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer to serve as a Network Administrator supporting the Naval Exchange Point (NXP) network solution. This position plays a pivotal role in sustaining and optimizing a newly deployed Navy enterprise transport network—a mission-critical environment that ensures 24/7/365 availability and operational reliability across the Naval Enterprise. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Tier 2 operations support to rapidly identify, triage, and resolve network or system outages, escalating to Tier 3 as needed.
- Monitor the performance, availability, and integrity of multiple Naval Exchange Points using advanced visibility and automation tools.
- Perform ongoing system maintenance, configuration corrections, hardware/software updates, and version control.
- Administer and maintain privileged access management solutions to safeguard critical assets.
- Continuously validate failover and disaster recovery procedures to ensure mission resiliency.
- Manage hardware and software lifecycle processes, including upgrades, patching, and deployment of new builds.
- Maintain asset and configuration management systems, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability.
- Support change, incident, and problem management processes in compliance with Navy standards.
- Fulfill system and operational reporting requirements to maintain audit-ready documentation for cybersecurity and performance compliance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- At least two (2) years of experience supporting large-scale enterprise network or systems environments.
- Experience with Linux (RHEL 8+), Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy administration.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, BASH, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Experience with Ansible (Tower), Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Jenkins, or containerized environments.
- Experience deploying virtual machines in VMware vSphere environments.
- Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN appliances.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and subnetting principles.
- IAT Level II Certification required (Security+ CE and OS certification).
- Ability to work rotating on-call shifts and provide 24x7 support coverage.
- Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Nautobot, RHEL Satellite, InfoBlox DDI, or Red Hat Linux 8.
- Experience supporting enterprise transport or tactical Navy networks.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence and mission-focused service delivery.
LOCATION & TRAVEL
- Primary Work Location: Suffolk, VA (Onsite at U.S. Navy Customer Facility)
- This position will work a schedule of 7am – 3pm, 5 days per week, to include weekends and a rotating on-call requirement.
COMPENSATION & CAREER GROWTH
- Salary Range: $155,000 – $185,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
- This position offers direct advancement into Principal Network Architect or Technical Program Manager roles within Bloom Consulting’s Network Modernization Division.
- Engineers will receive mentorship, certification support (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Azure, SD-WAN, Zero Trust), and hands-on experience delivering mission-critical modernization across the Navy enterprise.

- Active TS/SCI security clearancesto support a high-priority U.S. Navy program.
- Primary Work Location:Suffolk, VA (Onsite at U.S. Navy Customer Facility).
