Job Description

Legal Assistant

Join a Large, Established Law Firm | Collaborative Team | Excellent Employee Longevity | Growth Opportunities

We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join a large, well-established law firm with multiple office locations and a strong reputation for employee longevity. Many employees have built long-term careers with the firm, reflecting a supportive environment, stability, and opportunities to grow professionally.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative legal team while supporting attorneys in a fast-paced professional environment. The firm values teamwork, provides ongoing training and development, and offers opportunities to expand your skills and advance your career.

What You'll Do

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to a group of attorneys while working closely with other legal professionals across the firm's offices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, draft, edit, and format legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, and forms.

  • Proofread documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, accuracy, and formatting.

  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while supporting attorneys with day-to-day workflow.

  • Assist attorneys with the client intake process and ongoing client communication.

  • Maintain organized electronic and paper files and records.

  • Coordinate depositions, court reporters, expert witnesses, hearings, meetings, and other legal proceedings.

  • Assist with court filings and docketing requirements, depending on the practice area.

  • Coordinate travel, conferences, and other arrangements as needed.

  • Support billing and accounting functions, including pro forma edits, check requests, matter intake and updates, and related billing activities.

  • Collaborate with Legal Assistants and other team members across the firm's multiple locations.

  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to continue building your skills and legal knowledge.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of legal administrative or Legal Assistant experience or equivalent experience.

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree is a plus, but not required.

  • Knowledge of legal terminology, documents, procedures, and general law firm practices.

  • Experience with electronic filing, docketing, or practice-specific procedures is beneficial.

  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, document management systems, and internet-based applications.

  • Excellent proofreading, grammar, spelling, and document formatting skills.

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to build positive working relationships with attorneys, clients, colleagues, and other professionals.

  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is more than an opportunity to join another law firm. You'll become part of a large, established organization with multiple locations, excellent employee longevity, and a culture that values collaboration and professional development.

For someone looking for stability, a strong team environment, and the opportunity to grow within a respected law firm, this could be an excellent long-term career move.
