About the Job
As a Desktop Support Technician, you will provide critical technical assistance to operational staff and clients of Information Systems. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining personal computers, network hardware and software, printers, video terminals, file servers, data communication equipment, and both data and voice communications. This role includes administering hardware maintenance service contracts and purchasing computer hardware and software while ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines. You will interface directly with clients to install systems and resolve hardware and software failures, address performance issues, and implement user quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support:
- Perform hardware and desktop troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common computer software and hardware problems
- Resolve technical issues on new and existing systems including installation and upgrades of server hardware, software, storage, and networking products
- Ensure compliance with company technical and quality standards/procedures while maintaining the highest degree of client satisfaction
- Escalate problems within established parameters when necessary
Client Relations:
- Develop and maintain client relationships and identify opportunities to extend existing agreements
- Communicate potential sales leads to appropriate team members
- Maintain effective communication with internal call dispatchers and clients
- Complete required documentation for all work orders and provide real-time updates
Logistics:
- Travel to client sites as needed (valid driver's license required)
- Perform after-hours and weekend installations as scheduled
- Participate in "on-call" rotation as required
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required
- Strong technical background required
- 1 to 2 years of relevant industry experience
Technical Skills:
- A+ Certification preferred
- Knowledge of PC/Laptop/Chrome Book hardware and Microsoft Operating Systems
- Working knowledge of multiple Microsoft desktop applications
- Knowledge of utility tools, including virus applications and signatures
- Basic knowledge of workstation backups and restores
Additional Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal staff
- Ability to travel to client locations
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
