CPAY Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a motivated, growth-minded Business Development Representative for a full-time opportunity with an established St. Louis organization.
This role is ideal for an early-career sales professional with 1 to 3+ years of sales, business development, customer-facing, or related professional experience who enjoys starting conversations, building relationships, developing new opportunities, and seeing their efforts translate directly into revenue.
The Business Development Representative will focus primarily on new business development, including identifying and pursuing new advertisers, re-engaging inactive customers, prospecting for digital marketing opportunities, and supporting additional revenue-generating initiatives.
This is not a traditional account management role. The primary objective is to find, develop, and convert business the company does not currently have.
For someone who is competitive, persistent, coachable, and interested in developing a career in sales, digital advertising, marketing, and media, this position offers significant exposure and room for professional growth.
Identify and prospect new potential customers and advertisers across assigned markets.
Re-engage inactive customers and identify opportunities to generate new business.
Sell designated digital advertising products and solutions to new and inactive customers.
Conduct consistent outbound prospecting through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other appropriate channels.
Initiate conversations with prospective customers, identify potential needs, and develop relationships.
Learn available digital advertising and marketing solutions and confidently communicate their value to prospective customers.
Prepare proposals and maintain consistent follow-up throughout the sales process.
Build and maintain an active pipeline of qualified new-business opportunities.
Prospect potential clients for digital marketing and agency services.
Identify and qualify prospective customers based on established criteria.
Generate interest in available digital marketing solutions.
Schedule qualified appointments for the appropriate team member to continue the sales process.
Support the development of new agency revenue opportunities through consistent prospecting and relationship building.
As company priorities evolve, this position may also provide business development support for additional revenue-generating initiatives, including:
Event booths and sponsorships
Special publications and advertising opportunities
Promotional and supplemental projects
Other designated sales initiatives
When special-project support is not required, the primary focus of the position will remain digital new-business development.
Maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, opportunities, follow-ups, and pipeline status within the company CRM.
Consistently manage prospects through appropriate stages of the sales process.
Participate in regular pipeline and performance reviews with management.
Identify broader advertising, marketing, sponsorship, and event opportunities that arise during prospecting.
Coordinate appropriate sales opportunities and handoffs with internal team members.
Follow established guidelines regarding account ownership, prospect assignments, and sales responsibilities.
Adjust prospecting priorities based on current business initiatives and revenue opportunities.
This is a performance-driven sales position, and success will ultimately be measured by the quality of new business opportunities and revenue generated.
Key performance indicators may include:
New digital revenue generated
New customers and advertisers acquired
Inactive customers successfully reactivated
Qualified digital agency opportunities generated
Revenue resulting from agency opportunities
Special-project revenue generated
Prospecting activity is important, but performance will be evaluated primarily on results, pipeline quality, and revenue generation, rather than simply the number of calls or emails completed.
The ideal candidate will have:
1 to 3+ years of sales, business development, customer-facing, or related professional experience preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Confidence initiating conversations and building relationships with new people
Willingness and ability to conduct consistent outbound calling and prospecting
Strong follow-up and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple prospects and opportunities simultaneously
Competitive and goal-oriented mindset
Persistence and the ability to handle rejection professionally
Ability to work independently while remaining accountable to performance expectations
Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and continuously improve
Basic familiarity with digital advertising, marketing, or media is helpful but not required
Previous media, advertising, or digital marketing sales experience is a plus, but not required. Candidates with strong sales aptitude, communication skills, work ethic, and the desire to develop professionally are encouraged to apply.
This position provides the opportunity to develop experience across multiple areas of sales and business development, including digital advertising, digital marketing services, sponsorships, events, and publishing.
The Business Development Representative will gain exposure to multiple industries while developing valuable skills in prospecting, relationship building, pipeline management, consultative selling, and revenue generation.
For the right individual, this position can serve as a strong foundation for increased sales responsibility and long-term career growth as they demonstrate their ability to build relationships and generate revenue.
This position offers a base salary plus performance-based variable compensation.
Variable compensation will primarily reward new revenue personally generated by the Business Development Representative and may also include incentives tied to qualified digital agency opportunities and designated special projects.
Specific compensation structure and performance expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
Only candidates whose qualifications align with the requirements of the position will be contacted regarding next steps.
