Job Description
Chemical Production Operator
Location: St. Louis, MO
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift | 8:00 am - 4:30 pm M-F
Pay: Starting at $22.00/hour (with opportunities for advancement)
Position Type: Temp-to-Hire
Position Overview
CPAY Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a dependable, proactive Chemical Production Operator for a growing specialty coatings manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and working in a small team where every employee plays a critical role.
This is not a position where you'll simply follow instructions. We're looking for someone who can think ahead, identify issues before they become problems, and help keep production running smoothly. While chemical batching experience is a plus, the batching process can be taught. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing experience, reliability, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
Because this is a small operation, there is also potential to take on additional responsibilities and help oversee production processes as the company continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, measure, and mix chemical batches according to detailed formulas and production specifications.
- Operate mixers, scales, pumps, and other manufacturing equipment safely and accurately.
- Maintain accurate batch records, production logs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Transport raw materials and finished products using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Transfer finished materials into holding tanks, drums, pails, or gallon kits.
- Support packaging operations, labeling, and shipment preparation.
- Assist with quality control checks and product testing.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and organize raw materials and finished goods.
- Keep the production area clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Identify process improvements and help streamline production operations.
- Take initiative to solve problems independently and help determine the best next steps when challenges arise.
- Support production workflow and assist with coordinating daily operations within a small manufacturing team.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing experience required; chemical, food, pharmaceutical, coatings, plastics, or blending experience is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and reliability.
- Experience operating forklifts; certification is a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn new equipment and processes.
- Experience with inventory, shipping/receiving, or warehouse operations is beneficial.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.
- Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift 50-75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
- Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.
What We're Looking For - This role is ideal for someone who:
- Takes initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do.
- Enjoys solving problems and improving processes.
- Is dependable and understands the importance of reliability in a small team.
- Wants an opportunity to grow into additional responsibilities over time.
- Is looking for a long-term career with a stable and growing manufacturer.
Why Join This Team?
- Starting pay of $22.00/hour
- Opportunity for advancement as the company grows.
- Learn specialized chemical manufacturing and batching processes.
- Small, close-knit team where your contributions make a real impact.
- Stable, long-term temp-to-hire opportunity with career growth potential.
If you're a reliable manufacturing professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and growing with a company, we'd love to hear from you.
