Job Description

A leading global law firm is seeking a Managing Attorney or Managing Clerk for its Washington, D.C. office. This role partners with the Director of Managing Attorney's Offices to build and implement best practices for electronic filing and docketing across the firm's D.C. office.

Responsibilities include reviewing court filings for accuracy and procedural compliance, conducting legal research to guide litigators on court rules and motion practice, and coordinating service of process. The role also monitors rule changes under D.C. state rules, FRCP, and FRAP; manages electronic and hard-copy filings; and works across court databases and docketing platforms such as PACER, Bloomberg Law, CourtAlert, and Westlaw. Additional duties include calendaring deadlines, performing quality control on docket entries, tracking attorney bar admissions and e-filing credentials, and supporting broader department initiatives.

Candidates should bring strong experience in a Managing Attorney's Office, Managing Clerk's Office, or comparable litigation support function at a large firm, along with excellent communication skills, strong organizational instincts, and deep familiarity with D.C. federal and state court procedures. The Managing Attorney track requires a J.D. and D.C. Bar admission plus five years of relevant experience; the Managing Clerk track requires five or more years in a similar role, with a J.D. not required. The annual compensation range for the Managing Attorney position is $265K–325K. The annual compensation range for the Managing Clerk position is $150,000 - $165,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
