Job Description

The Lateral Analyst supports a law firm’s Conflicts & Compliance function, focusing on evaluating potential new hires and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting detailed conflicts checks on candidates’ client matters, analyzing documentation such as CVs and client lists, and performing research to identify potential conflicts of interest, sanctions risks, and anti-money laundering concerns. The analyst maintains accurate records in systems such as Intapp Open, updates candidate statuses, and communicates regularly with HR, Risk, and firm leadership throughout the hiring process.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and processing candidate information, running and analyzing conflict searches, summarizing findings, and escalating issues where necessary. The analyst also assists with onboarding new hires by coordinating with cross-functional teams, facilitating pre-clearance of client matters, implementing ethical walls, and providing training on conflicts procedures. Additional duties may include supporting general conflicts queries, business development checks, and client due diligence efforts.

Candidates should have a strong understanding of legal conflicts rules and confidentiality obligations, experience with conflicts or case management systems, and excellent research, analytical, and communication skills. Attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. A college degree is required; legal training or relevant experience is preferred.
