Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Service Manager to lead and oversee daily operations of a commercial HVAC service department, with a strong focus on complex mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, hydronic systems, and pumps. This role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, optimizing technician utilization, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across a diverse commercial client base.

The Service Manager will manage scheduling and dispatch for field technicians, ensure timely resolution of service requests, and maintain exceptional customer satisfaction. This individual will also play a key role in mentoring technicians, supporting technical development, and implementing service strategies to improve performance and profitability. Close collaboration with internal teams is essential to streamline operations and support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the commercial HVAC service department, ensuring efficiency and responsiveness
  • Manage scheduling, dispatching, and resource allocation for technicians servicing complex systems (chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and related equipment)
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop service technicians, promoting technical growth and accountability
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of client service requests, maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Develop and implement service strategies to improve operational performance and profitability
  • Partner with internal departments to enhance workflows and drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and best practices specific to commercial mechanical systems

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience managing HVAC service teams in a commercial environment
  • Strong technical expertise in large-scale HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and hydronic systems
  • Solid understanding of service operations, dispatching, and field service management
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to manage key client relationships
  • Experience with scheduling, workforce planning, and service workflow optimization
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively solve complex operational and technical challenges
  • Prior experience within mechanical contracting or commercial HVAC service is required
