About the Role:

You will be responsible for translating a variety of documents from the source language into the target language, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and cultural relevance. Working remotely, you will handle sensitive information with discretion while maintaining consistency in terminology and style. Your work will enable clients to communicate effectively across markets and audiences, supporting their international operations and brand reputation.

Pay Rate:

$0.08 – $0.12 per word, based on experience and subject matter expertise

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate written documents from the source language to the target language while preserving meaning, tone, and intent.
• Apply appropriate terminology and style guidelines to ensure consistency across all translated materials.
• Use computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools to manage translation memories, glossaries, and terminology databases.
• Conduct research to verify terminology, industry-specific language, and context for specialized content.
• Edit and proofread translated documents to correct errors and improve clarity, flow, and readability.
• Collaborate with clients and remote team members to clarify requirements, resolve queries, and align on expectations.
• Adapt content for cultural and localization requirements to ensure suitability for target audiences.
• Manage workload and timelines to deliver high-quality translations within agreed deadlines.

Key Requirements:

• Fluency in both the source and target languages, with excellent written communication skills in the target language.
• Demonstrated experience translating documents in a professional or freelance capacity.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in grammar, spelling, and terminology usage.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data securely.
• Proficiency with CAT tools and familiarity with translation memories and glossaries.
• Effective remote collaboration and communication skills using digital tools and platforms.
• Strong time management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines in a remote environment.
• Solid editing and proofreading capabilities for self-review and quality assurance.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience translating within specific industries (e.g. legal, technical, medical, marketing, or financial).
• Familiarity with localization practices for websites, software, or digital content.
• Experience working on multi-language or large-scale translation projects.
• Ability to adapt writing style for different audiences and content types.
• Knowledge of additional languages beyond the primary source and target pair.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Languages, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional translation certification or membership in a recognized translation association (preferred).
• Formal training or coursework in editing, proofreading, or localization (advantageous).
