Introduction

Astute People has partnered with a power plant developer, owner & operator who have a range of plants across North Carolina.

This new build power plant requires a number of Control Room Operators to oversee the start up & shutdown and day to day running of the power plant.

We’re keen to speak with experienced Operators from a power generation, heavy engineering or process plant background.

Responsibilities & duties.

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for…

  • Overseeing the safe & efficient operation of all plant & machinery including start up & shut down operations.
  • Coordinating shift operation activities, directing the Floor Operators with the daily tasks.
  • Following strict operating procedures to operate the distributed control system (DCS) to control boilers, steam turbine & ancillary equipment.
  • Inspecting & maintaining plant equipment and supporting the engineering team with fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Manual adjustment of valves and equipment as required for daily operations.
  • Preparing work permits and manage the LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) system.
  • Ensure maximum plant availability to ensure uninterrupted power generation to the grid.
  • Monitoring & recording all pressures, temperatures & fuel consumption of the machinery.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Carry out daily shift safety meetings.
  • Performing electrical switching activities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Professional qualifications and experience.

We are looking for someone with the following…

  • High school degree or equivalent education.
  • Basic level of IT / Computer knowledge
  • Ideally minimum of three years operating OR maintaining power plant systems
  • Knowledge of boiler plant and auxiliary systems.
  • Experience working in a control room environment which could include Refineries, Petrochemical sites, Steel Works, Paper Mills etc
  • The ability to lift heavy equipment and (up to 50-lbs)
