Senior Solutions Architect

Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, Tuesday to Thursday)

Position Overview

The Senior Solutions Architect is responsible for defining and leading solution architecture, technical direction, and integration strategies for complex business and technology initiatives. This role ensures solutions align with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, cybersecurity requirements, operational needs, and long-term technology roadmaps.

The successful candidate will provide architectural leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex enterprise technology solutions.
• Define solution, application, integration, data, security, infrastructure, and deployment architectures.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Work with business stakeholders and technical teams to define business, functional, technical, integration, and security requirements.
• Evaluate technologies, platforms, and solution alternatives and provide architectural recommendations.
• Design integrations and data flows across enterprise systems, including Operational Technology (OT) environments.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to developers, analysts, vendors, and project teams.
• Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, solution assessments, and vendor evaluations.
• Review and approve solution designs, technical specifications, integration approaches, and deployment strategies.
• Support projects through development, testing, implementation, deployment, and transition to operational support.
• Identify technical risks, integration challenges, performance concerns, and operational impacts.
• Develop and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, standards, and technology roadmaps.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Software Architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, systems analysis, software development, or technical leadership.
• 5+ years of experience designing and delivering complex enterprise solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Solution, Application, Integration, Data, Cloud, Infrastructure, and Security Architecture.
• Experience designing enterprise application architectures and integrating multiple technology platforms.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, enterprise architecture standards, and non-functional requirements.
• Excellent technical leadership, stakeholder management, analytical, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Experience in utilities, energy, critical infrastructure, or other regulated industries is strongly preferred, particularly in environments requiring high reliability and compliance with industry standards.
