Indicative LOE/Time Frame Full time, 4-year term.
Language Requirements Fluency in spoken and written Arabic with knowledge of an Arabic dialect from the Levant region.

About the work

The Gender Education Expert will support the Development Coordination Unit within the MoE to strengthen the education system for girls and boys in gender equality, with a particular focus on girls’ education and girls experiencing violence/harassment in schools.

They will work across the Accelerated Access Initiative and the wider education sector including the Gender Equality Department to coordinate on awareness raising on the intersectionality of disability with gender, refugee status, and poverty, and to provide strategic advice on the adoption of an intersectional lens in capacity building at the central, field directorate, and school levels in that regard.

The Gender Education Expert will also work with relevant departments to ensure gender equality is mainstreamed in all teacher training curriculum reform and work at central, school directorate and school level. There may also be a need for additional resource to support the areas of work under this output through additional short-term support or consultants or a consultancy.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in gender/gender education (or equivalent).
  • Teacher training skills;
  • Curriculum development and teacher training content development skills.
  • Vocational education expertise;
  • Report writing skills;
  • Knowledge of gender issues related to tertiary education/employment in Jordan or border countries.
  • Donor and CSO engagement skills;
  • Knowledge and expertise in global best practice in girls' education and/or gender equality.
