AFFIRMA CONSULTING Infrastructure Business Unit Job Description: IT Infrastructure Consultant Location
Level Mid-Level (Individual Contributor)
Employment Type Full-Time
Reports To Director of Infrastructure IT
Target Salary Range Commensurate with experience
About Affirma Affirma is a technology consulting firm headquartered in Bellevue, WA. Our Infrastructure Business Unit (Infra BU) delivers project-based consulting engagements for clients across regulated industries including healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing. We solve real infrastructure problems through well-scoped, high-quality project delivery.
Role Summary
We are looking for a mid-level IT Infrastructure Consultant to join our growing practice. This is a hands-on delivery role — you will be embedded on client engagements, working alongside senior engineers and directly with client IT teams to architect, migrate, and modernize core Microsoft infrastructure. The ideal candidate comes from a sysadmin or cloud engineering background, has solid foundational skills in Azure and Microsoft 365, and is eager to grow their consulting craft in a collaborative environment.
Consulting experience is a plus but is not required — we can teach the consulting side. What we need is solid technical fundamentals and a genuine interest in solving problems for a variety of clients.
What You’ll Do
- Support and execute client engagements across Active Directory, Entra ID, M365, Exchange, and Azure workloads
- Assist with hybrid identity migrations, AD clean-up, and domain consolidations
- Configure and administer M365 environments including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
- Deploy and manage endpoint solutions including Intune, Autopilot, and Defender for Endpoint
- Perform Azure administration tasks: VM management, subscriptions, cost review, and basic landing zone work
- Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and client-facing deliverables
- Collaborate with senior engineers to scope, plan, and execute project work
- Participate in discovery and assessment engagements to evaluate client environments What We’re Looking For Required Skills
- Active Directory (AD DS, GPO policy management, OU structure)
- Entra ID / Azure AD — hybrid identity concepts, syncing, and conditional access basics
- Microsoft 365 — Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams administration
- Azure fundamentals — VM provisioning, resource groups, subscriptions, IAM
- PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks
- Intune / MDM — device enrollment, compliance policies, app deployment
- Windows Server environments — general administration and troubleshooting
Nice to Have
- Endpoint security tooling: BitLocker, Defender for Endpoint, App Control
- AD Federation Services (ADFS) or identity federation concepts
- Basic networking knowledge: DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewall fundamentals
- Exposure to compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, NIST) — even lightweight
- Experience in a consulting, staffing, or multi-client environment Certifications We are targeting candidates with at least one of the following, or a clear path toward it:
- AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate — strongly preferred as a starting baseline
- MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator
- SC-300: Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ (entry-level foundation acceptable)
- ITIL Foundations — helpful for understanding service delivery structure We value demonstrated skills over credential stacking. If you have the hands-on experience and are working toward a cert, we want to hear from you. What We Offer
- Exposure to a wide variety of client environments, industries, and technology challenges
- Mentorship from senior engineers in cloud, identity, and security disciplines
- Clear growth path within the Infrastructure BU
- Opportunity to build toward higher-complexity engagements (Azure architecture, security assessments, IaC)
- Collaborative team culture with direct access to practice leadership
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and professional development support Who Thrives Here This role is well-suited for someone who:
- Has worked in IT for 3–7 years and is ready for client-facing, project-based work
- Enjoys variety — you’ll rarely be doing the same thing two weeks in a row
- Can communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Takes ownership of their work and follows through without needing hand-holding
- Is actively learning and curious about where Microsoft’s platform is heading
