Job Description

Affirma Consulting is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our team. As a Senior UX Designer, you advocate for the users’ goals, needs, and expectations while engaging with clients, and collaborating with project managers, visual designers, engineers, and marketers. A successful candidate will influence the user experience and strategy of a product from incubation into production. As a senior designer, you foster collaboration and ensure a consistent experience across all parts of the product. You will engage with a variety of clients, from those launching their first website to technological innovators like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.

What You’ll Do

  • Bring user-centered design (UCD) process methods to digital solutions from concept to launch
  • Work with clients to understand and distill complex problems into elegant, informed solutions
  • Identify and execute on the best methods for user research and testing within client constraints
  • Design and deliver information architecture, wireframes, user personas and journeys, and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
  • Provide constructive direction to junior designers
  • Integrate with other senior cross-functional teammates (Visual Design, Development, Engagement Managers, and Project Managers) to produce best-in-industry solutions for projects
  • Present creative work and articulate the team’s design process directly to the client
  • Participate and facilitate creative workshops for team members
  • A clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing your expertise


What You Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in UX or interaction design with emphasis on human-centered design methods
  • A portfolio or case study(ies) that demonstrate:
    • Your understanding of the problems you were tasked to solve
    • How you solved those problems
    • The results of your solution
    • Any lessons learned from the project
  • Experience reviewing existing systems and processes to identify UX issues and develop recommendations
  • Familiarity with analyzing findings, documenting, and articulating results for clients
  • Experience developing information architecture, user flows, and user personas
  • Ability to create conceptual and detailed wireframes and prototypes
  • Proficiency working in a wide variety of modern design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch

  • Approach design engagements and challenges with an open mind
  • Organized, self-directed, and self-sufficient
  • Ability to communicate, champion, and present your human-centered design solutions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentor and grow junior UX designers
  • Work independently and in groups as needed with a variety of skill sets and experience levels
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies, design trends, tools, and methods
  • A drive to grow in your craft and knowledge share with teammates
  • Experiment with emerging technologies, design trends, tools, and methods
  • A passion for learning and pursuing your craft and guiding others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Points (but not required)

  • Experience working in freelance or consulting
  • An understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Proficiency in designing accessible experiences
  • Experience in an agile, scrum environment
  • Experience with native iOS and Android applications
  • UI experience
