The Purchasing Manager will source suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services while driving efficiencies across the supply chain.  This is a dynamic opportunity to develop this role to be an influential partner across departments in a company that values innovation and operational excellence.

Compensation:
Salary of $95,000 to $115,000 per year and a generous benefits package. This is an on-site role.

Your key responsibilities would include:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies tailored to the organization's needs, including analyzing historical data, market trends, and demand forecasts to optimize purchasing processes and achieve significant cost savings.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on criteria such as reliability, quality, pricing, and delivery capabilities. Build and maintain strong relationships with selected vendors to ensure a stable supply chain and competitive pricing.
  • Engage in contract negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous terms, pricing, and payment conditions.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze market trends, supplier performance, and changes in pricing and availability of goods and services to proactively respond to market fluctuations and mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborate closely across departments to understand their unique purchasing needs, specifications, and timelines, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring that the acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget constraints.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance based on predefined KPIs, and take appropriate corrective actions to address any issues, optimize performance, and foster continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all purchasing activities, maintaining a high level of integrity and transparency throughout the procurement process.
  • Utilize advanced inventory management techniques and systems to maintain optimal inventory levels, prevent stockouts, minimize excess inventory, and reduce carrying costs, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

 Requirements for this position include:

  • 2+ years of experience in a senior or managerial role, demonstrating leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Experience in the metals manufacturing industry or sector preferred.
  • Experience using ERP systems, such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or other similar systems, preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable agreements.
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships and resolving conflicts or issues effectively.
  • Experience in inventory management, including optimizing inventory levels, preventing stockouts, and minimizing carrying costs.
  • Familiarity with inventory control strategies and best practices.
  • Experience managing procurement projects, cross-functional initiatives, or process improvement projects related to purchasing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute procurement projects from initiation to completion.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in procurement activities.
  • Familiarity with legal requirements related to contracts, purchasing agreements, and vendor relationships.
  • Experience analyzing data, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and generating reports to support decision-making and performance evaluation.
  • Ability to utilize reporting tools and analytics software to drive insights and improvements in procurement processes.
