General Manager for Aerospace Machining and Fabrication Company – Portland Metro

Acumen Executive Search is partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturing company that produces complex machined products and assemblies to find a General Manager who will oversee the facility in the Portland, Oregon area. This key leader will build a culture of high performance, teamwork, and accountability while instilling pride and purpose in achieving the company’s goals and meeting the customers' quality and on-time delivery requirements.  

 If You:

• Have at least 7 years of broad experience leading high-end machining operations.
• Excel at optimizing ERP systems.
• Are adept at client interface, building confidence, and trust.
• Can be a hands-on leader at the facility managing in the office and on the shop floor.
• Are a data-driven leader managing KPIs and tight delivery schedules.
• Can quickly understand and streamline job scheduling, operations, quality programs, personnel needs, financial reporting, and customer service.
• Are a trusted leader who can join the team and provide clear and timely communications to leadership, customers, and direct reports.

Compensation: Salary of $150,000 to $180,000 per year plus a 10-30% performance-based bonus potential.

 Your key responsibilities would include:

• Lead with consistent application of best practices, KPIs, processes, standards, and procedures across all functions.
• Ensure high-quality, timely delivery of products and services per contract specifications while maximizing profitability.
• Inspire, coach, develop, and lead the team, cultivating a culture of responsibility and teamwork to achieve excellence and continuous improvement.
• Provide the leadership team with consistent, timely, and proactive communication on operational and customer status and issues.
• Continuously review, refine, and enhance standards, processes, and procedures to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve productivity and profitability.
• Champion a safe and healthy work environment.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including safety, environmental, and confidentiality standards.
• Build strong relationships with key existing and potential strategic partners, including major customers and suppliers.
• Plan, develop, and implement strategies to meet performance goals within agreed budgets and timelines.
• Develop and implement operating and long-range plans covering operations, budgets, and capital expenses.

 Requirements for this position include:

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience managing a machining and manufacturing facility.
• Experience with optimizing ERP systems (production control, shop floor scheduling, etc.)
• Exemplary customer support skills including experience building trusted partnerships and providing proactive communications.
• Proven ability to develop, track, and improve data driven KPIs.
• Team leadership and people management experience with a proven track record of success building collaborative, high-performance teams.
• Full P&L experience.
