Job Description
The client is a sub $25M Million+ Social Services organization seeking a Controller to lead the entirety of Account and Finance. This position will play a pivotal role in the organization as it continues to grow across multiple avenues of revenue and program types. This position will report into the Executive Director and manage a small team across transactional accounting and procurement.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain general ledger, chart of accounts, and all financial records in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies
- Ensure timely reconciliation of all bank and credit card accounts
- Oversee and monitor cash flow projections and manage organizational banking relationships
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with leadership and program staf
- Provide financial forecasting, analysis, and modeling to support strategic decision-making
- Monitor and report on budget vs. actuals for all departments
- Track grant revenues and expenditures, ensuring proper documentation and reporting in accordance with funder requirements
- Prepare grant financial reports and support audits for funders and government contracts
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations
- Lead annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely preparation of schedules and documentation
- Oversee preparation and filing of IRS Form 990 and other required financial filings
- Supervise and support accounting staff or vendors, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Manage accounting software and systems, ensuring efficient workflows and data integrity
- Recommend and implement process improvements and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of management level accounting experience within a social services environment
- Led the GL and FP&A for a $125M+ Organization
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
