Job Description

We are seeking a fully bilingual (English/French) Bookkeeper to join our client, located just outside of Halifax, with a majority client base in Quebec. French-speaking candidates are therefore highly preferred.

This permanent, full-time role reports directly to the Controller and offers an excellent opportunity to support key financial and administrative functions while contributing to a relaxed, collaborative office culture.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring all employee information is accurately entered and adjusting for tax deductions or union withholdings as needed
  • Review, validate, and enter staff activity and expense reports, verify and reconcile expense accounts, coordinate approval workflows, and calculate payable services by contract
  • Maintain transfer tracking files, update and issue annual contract templates, track issued contracts in the internal database, prepare deposit files, reconcile deposits with work performed, and produce client invoices
  • Manage general bookkeeping tasks and support financial reporting, maintain employee and client databases, and produce reports for management as required
  • Oversee office equipment and supplies, and collaborate with IT support to maintain information systems

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Fully bilingual in English and French (mandatory)
  • Previous bookkeeping experience, including payroll, expense management, and general accounting
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
