Job Description

Our client, a leader in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of full-cycle accounting and treasury operations within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Based in Mahone Bay, NS, and offering a flexible hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office per week this role is integral to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial and regulatory reporting, managing treasury activities, and supporting internal and external stakeholders across Canada and the U.S.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage the consolidation process and month-end reporting cycle
  • Perform reconciliations and ensure journal entries are properly prepared and reviewed
  • Oversee day-to-day treasury operations to ensure financial obligations are met
  • Monitor cash flow, forecasting, credit administration, and compliance with lender requirements
  • Maintain accurate investment records and prepare related forecasts
  • Conduct pricing and costing updates within the ERP system
  • Support and participate in the annual external audit
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to streamline financial processes and reporting

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • CPA designation or near completion is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing sector considered a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ERP system experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to see the bigger picture and financial trends
  • Highly organized with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Skilled communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Deadline-driven with the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment
  • A positive and continuous passion for learning, embracing technology and process improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work in-office three days per week in Mahone Bay, NS
