Job Description

Our well-established client—proudly operating for over 30 years—is seeking a Part-Time Accountant to join their entrepreneurial and collaborative team in Dartmouth, NS. This is a hands-on, permanent, part-time role offering approximately 10 hours per week, ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both day-to-day accounting and contributing to process improvements and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Bank and general ledger reconciliations
  • Journal entries and financial statement preparation
  • Benefits administration and employee records maintenance
  • Sales, expense, and job costing reporting and analysis
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audit preparation
  • Safety records and compliance reporting
  • Ad hoc reporting and special projects

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting
  • Minimum 2 years of full-cycle bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks is strongly preferred 
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards, processes, and internal controls
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and systems implementation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Adaptable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
