Job Description

We’re seeking qualified and experienced professionals at the Controller level for current and upcoming opportunities with our clients in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in financial leadership, with expertise in areas such as corporate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and reporting packages
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes
  • Supervise accounting staff and mentor junior team members

Skills & Attributes for Success:

  • Chartered Professional Designation is required  
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience; at least 2 years in a management or controller role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
