Job Description:

The Cost Accountant will serve as the primary resource for cost and inventory accounting within the organization. This position is responsible for delivering accurate financial insights related to product costing, margin analysis, and inventory valuation. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role plays a key part in supporting strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.

• Lead monthly cost-related close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Monitor and evaluate material and gross margin variances compared to forecast, prior periods, and budget targets.
• Provide detailed gross margin reporting by customer and product type.
• Investigate inventory count discrepancies and resolve issues arising from annual and periodic cycle counts.
• Identify and correct errors in transaction processing related to inventory systems.
• Prepare routine and ad hoc reports on inventory performance and cost metrics.
• Maintain and update standard costing models and bills of materials (BOMs) on a scheduled basis.
• Support pricing updates through cost analysis and market comparison reports.
• Develop and manage the annual cost of goods sold (COGS) budget.
• Assist in year-end financial close and coordinate with external auditors during the audit process.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support finance operations.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing or product-based environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central or similar ERP systems is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:
• Solid understanding of inventory and product costing methodologies and their impact on the general ledger.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Comfort working with ERP systems and troubleshooting accounting-related system issues.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
