Position: Draftsman

Join a well-established structural welding and fabrication shop in Tulsa where your technical drafting expertise directly shapes complex construction projects. This is a stable, permanent role offering hands-on involvement from initial concept through to fabrication, working closely with engineers and shop teams to bring precise designs to life.

About the Role:

In this role, you will produce accurate construction drawings and 3D models that guide fabrication and installation activities for structural welding projects. You will translate design concepts and engineering inputs into clear, compliant technical documentation, ensuring all work aligns with local building codes and shop standards. Your work will have a direct impact on project quality, safety, and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D models for structural welding and construction projects.
• Develop fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings with precise dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering sketches, and design notes, converting them into clear, shop-ready documentation.
• Coordinate drawing revisions, maintain version control, and update documentation based on engineering and client feedback.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and shop personnel to clarify design intent and resolve drawing-related issues.
• Perform accurate measurements and dimensioning from field data and design inputs to support fabrication and installation.
• Prepare technical documentation packages for project handover, including drawing sets and supporting details.

Key Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and detailing within construction or fabrication environments.
• Demonstrated experience producing construction drawings and detailing for structural or welding-related projects.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Proven capability in precision measurement and dimensioning to support accurate fabrication.
• Experience managing technical documentation and revision control in a production or project setting.
• Familiarity with structural welding shop practices and workflows.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work to tight tolerances and project deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with 3D modeling and visualization tools beyond AutoCAD (e.g., Revit, Inventor, or similar).
• Background in structural steel detailing or related construction drafting disciplines.
• Knowledge of industry standards for welded structures and fabrication processes.
• Prior experience liaising directly with clients or field teams to clarify design and drawing requirements.

Qualifications:

• Formal training or certification in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
• Additional coursework or certification in structural drafting, construction technology, or welding design is preferred.
• Relevant on-the-job experience in a structural welding shop or construction drafting role will be considered in lieu of formal education where appropriate.
