Commercial & Industrial Chiller Technician
We are seeking an experienced Commercial & Industrial Chiller Technician to diagnose, repair, maintain, and service commercial and industrial chiller systems while ensuring reliable, efficient operation.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain air-cooled, water-cooled, centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, seasonal startups/shutdowns, and system performance testing.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration circuits, compressors, pumps, cooling towers, chilled water systems, electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, leak detection, and charging.
- Read wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and control schematics.
- Troubleshoot BAS and chiller control systems.
- Complete service reports, communicate findings and repair recommendations, participate in an on-call rotation, and follow EPA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC/chiller experience.
- Experience servicing commercial and industrial chillers.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently, provide excellent customer service, lift 50+ lbs, and work in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and outdoors.
Preferred
- Factory training or experience with Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Smardt, McQuay, or Johnson Controls chillers.
- Experience with centrifugal, screw, and magnetic bearing chillers.
- Knowledge of VFDs, cooling towers, pumps, hydronic systems, and BAS platforms including Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens, Honeywell, and Schneider Electric.
- Experience with vibration analysis and compressor diagnostics.
