We are seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer with hands-on experience in welding processes, weld quality inspection, robotic welding, and manufacturing quality control. This role focuses on ensuring weld quality, resolving production issues, performing root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement in welding and fabrication operations.
Monitor and improve welding processes, including robotic welding, to ensure consistent weld quality and production efficiency.
Perform pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections to identify welding defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Review and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
Support destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT), including visual, ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and penetrant inspections.
Investigate weld defects such as porosity, cracks, incomplete penetration, and dimensional inconsistencies.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) to resolve welding and fabrication quality issues.
Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and GD&T requirements.
Troubleshoot welding issues on the manufacturing floor, including weld fit-up, fixtures, and process parameters.
Manage nonconforming materials, scrap, rework, and quality containment activities.
Develop and update PFMEA, Control Plans, and quality documentation to support process improvements.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Welding, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline.
23 years of experience in welding quality, welding engineering, or manufacturing quality.
Hands-on experience with robotic welding processes, weld inspection, and welding defect analysis.
Knowledge of welding standards such as AWS, ASME, or ISO.
Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, PFMEA, and quality control processes.
Ability to read engineering drawings, welding symbols, and GD&T.
Understanding of metallurgy, heat-affected zones (HAZ), and weld integrity.
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality data analysis.
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
ASNT NDT Level II or III certification.
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
Experience with automated or robotic welding in heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial manufacturing.
Familiarity with weld qualification procedures and destructive/NDT testing methods.
