Duties & Responsibilities:
- This is a very hands-on job and requires a lot of collaboration.
- A typical day will include getting updates on machine availability from Machine Engineers, driving instrumentation set up and assisting with troubleshooting as required, running tests with or without machine operators.
- During planning and documentation stages, the day will include meetings with Design teams, most of which are teleconferences.
- Post test analysis, reports, and recommendations are the critical end point of the work.
- The position works closely with a small team of Sound Engineers at the Proving Ground and the Technical Center.
- They also collaborate with Product Validation and Design Engineers to review designs, develop test plans, prepare instrumentation, execute tests, analyze results, and communicate results/recommendations back to Product Design teams.
- This position is an entry level position in the group so will have a portion of their job that is to support the experienced Sound Engineers by overseeing test set up and execution.
- The position will also be responsible to taking ownership of planning and delivering projects as capability is demonstrated.
Education & Experience
- A BS degree in an Engineering curriculum that included NVH/Acoustics introduction (Ag Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.)
- 3 - 5 years of experience required
Required Skills:
- Good understanding of mechanical systems and system dynamics
- Knowledge with instrumentation like microphones, pressure transducers, accelerometers, etc. and how to apply them.
- Experience with troubleshooting and fixing mechanical systems
- Experience safely using hand tools to assemble/disassemble mechanical systems
