Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for full development cycle of purchased-finished converters and inverters for Caterpillar electric drivetrains
- Define converter/inverter requirements in collaboration with systems’ teams
- Perform technical analysis and evaluation needed to select best supplier option
- Execute design customization and development with suppliers, both hardware and software aspects
- Support component testing, evaluation, and validation activities with validation teams
- Support NTI & NPI process: communication with NTI/NPI leads; prepare and present design and gateway reviews.
- Collaboration with Caterpillar China team. Flexibility to attend evening or early morning meetings needed.
- Play an active role in supplier evaluation, selection and development– some limited travel will be required.
- Support component commissioning on machine builds.
- Support APQP activities on purchased components in collaboration with suppliers.
- Resolve and document field issues.
- Procurement, inventory management, and shipment of components.
- Stay up to date with the latest advances and market trends in e-powertrain DC converters and inverters.

Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Electrical Engineering degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product development or design
- Demonstrated ability in successful execution of full or partial component/product development cycles
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to lead/facilitate discussions and generate conclusions, able to navigate a matrix organization
- Solid technical background and analytical skills in power electronics and e-powertrain systems.
- Self-starter who can understand a program’s status, generate action items, identify problems, and initiate actions
- Power Electronics design and development experience, product development experience (design / analysis / validation), NPI process experience
Required Skills:
- Experience with electric drive systems and/or components
- Component development experience: design/analysis/assembly/testing.
- Experience with quality tools including FMEA, APQP & PPAP
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) Issue resolution process
- Experience in inverters and motor drives for electric powertrain development
- Experience in supplier evaluation and development
- Power converter testing and validation experience
